Governor Planted Superior Rice Varieties in South Barito
LEMBENG – PROTOCOL AND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION BUREAU. Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran symbolically planted Inpari-30 variety rice in Lembeng Village, Dusun Selatan District, South Barito Regency, Thursday (01/23/2020). Rice planting was carried out together with the Regent of South Barito, members of Leadership Coordination Forum, and a number of officials of provincial government and regency government. The activity continued with the inauguration of Rice Milling Unit (RMU) around the rice planting location.
In his remarks, Governor said that the visit to South Barito also to see the bridges construction and the completion of roads under provincial budget, where road were expected to be well conditioned by the end of 2020. “The important thing is that the Regent has a desire to backup food for food security of citizens and families,” he added.
The governor also stressed that they would assist the infrastructure of roads used for agricultural need and agricultural equipment, including the regency of Kapuas, Pulang Pisau, South Barito, and East Barito.
According to the Governor, this was also conducted to welcome the new State Capital “We welcome the New State Capital. I hope the Barito watershed will become a food buffer zone, “he explained.
The governor added that they also wanted a fishing industry in Central Kalimantan to support the New State Capital. He said he was committed to assist the Barito watershed in order to welcome the New State Capital.
Previously, the Regent of South Barito Eddy Raya Samsuri expressed his gratitude because his regency was one of the areas receiving RMU assistance out of 3 other regencies in Central Kalimantan. “Thank you very much for your trust to South Barito,” he said by expecting that South Barito will be further provided with the assistance of equipment by Provincial Government.
After delivering his speech, Governor tested the tools used to grind rice and took time to greet people at the site of medical treatment and free circumcision activity around the rice planting location.
The rice planting activity and the inauguration of RMU are part of a series of working visit by Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran to South Barito Regency.
