Election Supervisory Board Disseminates Implementation of Article 71, Law Number 10/2016
BANJARMASIN – BUREAU OF PROTOCOL AND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION. Vice Governor of Central Kalimantan Habib Ismail Bin Yahya attended an event of the Election Supervisory Board of the Republic of Indonesia, Workshop on the Implementation of Article 71 Law Number 10 of 2016 Batch III at Golden Tulip Galaxy Hotel Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Tuesday morning ( 11/2/2020). The event was opened directly by the Chairman of Election Supervisory Board of the Republic of Indonesia, Abhan.
In an effort to prevent administrative violations and criminal offenses in the 2020 election for governors, regents and mayors, the Election Supervisory Board needs to to carry out dissemination, especially regarding the implementation of Article 71 Law Number 10 of 2016 on the Second Amendment to Law Number 1 of 2015 on the Establishment of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2014 on the Election of Governors, Regents and Mayors.
The Acting Director General of Politics and General Government of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bahtiar, said that the 2020 simultaneous regional elections would be held for 270 regions consisting of 9 provinces, 224 regencies and 37 cities.
It was also conveyed that the appointment of Candidates based on the schedule of the Program and Implementation Stages of 2020 Simultaneous Elections will be held on July 8, 2020. Thus, starting from January 8, 2020 until the end of the term of office, it is prohibited to replace officials unless after receiving written approval from the Minister.
This is as stated in Article 71 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 10 of 2016 that the Governor or Vice Governor, Regent or Vice Regent, and Mayor or Vice Mayor are prohibited from replacing officials 6 (six) months before the date of the candidates appointment until the end of term of office unless written approval from the Minister is received.
This event invited a number of Governors, Regents / Mayors whose regions will carry out simultaneous regional elections in 2020, namely the Governor of Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan and South Kalimantan, as well as Regents / Mayors from the Province of Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Banten, East Java, West Java and Central Java, which totaled 83 people. The event also invited 10 Action Division Coordinators of the Election Supervisory Board at the provincial level, 83 Action Division Coordinators of the Election Supervisory Board at the regency/city level, and 43 participants from the Election Supervisory Board of the Republic of Indonesia.
