Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Pays Visit to Central Kalimantan ahead of Elections
PALANGKA RAYA – PROTOCOL AND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION BUREAU. The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Ministry conducted a working visit to Central Kalimantan Province for the Readiness Coordination on Simultaneous Regional Elections in 2020. The coordination meeting was held at Luwansa Hotel in Palangka Raya, Thursday (5/3/2020).
On this occasion, the Provincial Secretary of Central Kalimantan Fahrizal Fitri said that Provincial Government had made various preparations to face the Simultaneous Regional Elections 2020, one of which was by forming the Provincial Election Desk per 3 February 2020.
In addition to forming the Provincial Election Desk, the Provincial Government ensures that the Regency / City forms the Election Desk and provides a budget for the operational Desk. The Provincial Government also provides funds to support the implementation of the elections, conducts socialization to increase voter participation and keep neutrality of State Civil Apparatus, coordinates with District / City Government on technical issues and data inventory, coordinates with related forums, and prepares supporting applications to collect data.
Meanwhile, in his remarks read by Secretary Fahrizal Fitri, Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran hoped the visit of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs could become the enthusiasm, inspiration, motivation, as well as provide benefits for all levels of government apparatus, organizers of regional elections, related offices / agencies / institutions. “In addition, this working visit also aims to get input for the leadership forum of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in determining further policies related to monitoring the stage of voting and vote counting for the Simultaneous Elections in 2020,” Governor added.
Furthermore, it was also emphasized that one of the aspects that determined the implementation of a good local election was the existence of synergy and good cooperation also from the organizers of the elections: the General Elections Commission and Election Supervisory Agency with the Regional Government and the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Indonesian Police as security forces. For this reason, all elements are expected to have a commitment to the success of the elections for a safe, conducive, honest and fair election.
Governor also hopes the democratic party will not break down the unity that has been existing in Land of Tambun Bungai and the contestants can compete in a healthy manner. “Although based on the Election Vulnerability Index that was released in February 2020 by the Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency, Central Kalimantan Province is ranked 6 out of 9 Provinces implementing the Regional Elections and East Kotawaringin Regency is ranked 5 out of 224 Regencies that carry out the elections, but I am sure and believe that our efforts, commitment, good synergy and prayers for the simultaneous regional elections 2020 in Central Kalimantan Province can be held safely, peacefully and conductively, and involve high voter participation,” said Governor Sugianto Sabran.
The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs was led by Brigadier General Yusran Yunus who is currently serving as the Deputy Assistant 3 / I of the Domestic Politics. While the other three team members who also visited Central Kalimantan, including Brigadier General (Ret.) Syafiul (Special Staff of Special Autonomy), Col. ARH Johanis Payung (Section Head of 1.3 / I Domestic Politics), and Imam Fauzi (Analyst on Domestic Politics).
During their working visit, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs team warned of potential vulnerabilities that could occur at the stages of Final Voter List Compilation, Nomination, Campaigning, to Vote Counting and Vote Recapitulation.
