Governor: Regional Office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights Must Assist Local Government Establish Legal Products
PALANGKA RAYA – PROTOCOL AND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION BUREAU. Governor of Central Kalimantan, H. Sugianto Sabran officially opened a Coordination Meeting with the Regional Government Regarding Law No. 15/2019 and the Socialization of Presidential Regulation No. 13 of 2018 concerning the Principle Application of Recognizing the Beneficiaries of Corporations for the Prevention and Eradication of Criminal Acts of Money Laundering and Terrorism Funding. The event was held by the Regional office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Central Kalimantan at the Luwansa Hotel, Palangka Raya, Thursday (05/03/2020).
The Governor welcomed the event and emphasized several important things in his remarks. As delivered by President Joko Widodo in a state address on October 20, 2019, Central Kalimantan Governor supported the priorities of the President’s work which would be carried out in the next 5 years. Some of the priorities are the development of Human Resources (HR), infrastructure development, simplification of all forms of regulation to overcome the problems of overlapping laws and regulations which can prevent investment, simplification of bureaucracy and economic transformation. These five priorities were the concern of the Governor in leading development in Central Kalimantan.
Governor also added, in the formation of regional regulations, it is necessary to involve other competent parties to design the legislation and involve all levels of society in providing input and advice. “The Regional office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Central Kalimantan has an obligation to assist Regional Government in the formation of legal products so the synergy and cooperation is needed between the Regional Government and the Regional office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights,” he stressed.
In connection with the Presidential Regulation 13 of 2018, Governor said that the crime of money laundering and terrorism funding is a crime that transcends national boundaries that have been sheltering behind a body or corporation. For this reason, this Presidential Regulation exists to regulate the provisions of corporate obligations to convey information of beneficial owners so that corporations are not used as a means of money laundering and criminal acts of financing terrorism.
During the event, a MoU was signed between the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights with the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government regarding guidance and services in the fields of law and human rights, immigration, and socialization in Central Kalimantan Province, the signing of the MoU conducted between the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Regents / Mayor and universities in Central Kalimantan.
The coordination meeting was attended by the Director General of Law and Regulations of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia represented by Secretary General Priyanto, the Director of Regional Regulation Planning Facility, Nuryanti Widyastuti, Head of Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Central Kalimantan, Ilham Djaya, Member of Indonesian House of Representatives Agustiar Sabran, a number of Regents and Mayor in Central Kalimantan and members of Provincial Leadership Coordination Forum. Other speakers came from the Center for Reporting and Analysis of Financial Transactions and the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commision. (dew/eka/translated by feb)
