Governor Appreciates Rice Farmers at Former Location for Regional Week of National Outstanding Farmers and Fishermen Association XII (KTNA) in East Kotawaringin
PELANGSIAN– PROTOCOL AND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION BUREAU. Governor of Central Kalimantan, Sugianto Sabran, expressed his appreciation to rice farmers in Mentawa Baru Ketapang District, the former location of Regional Week of National Outstanding Farmers and Fishermen Association XII (KTNA) in East Kotawaringin, for the realization of this year’s harvest to support the availability of food stocks, especially in the period of Covid-19 pandemic (Corona Virus) as it is today.
The Office of Agriculture in East Kotawaringin Regency, through the BPP Pelangsian as the Kostra Tani information center in Mentawa Baru Ketapang District, responded to Governor Sugianto Sabran’s direction, to monitor field conditions at the farm level in the context of securing the availability of food stocks at production centers. Mentawa Baru Ketapang District which in 2019 was chosen as the district for the implementation of  KTNA XII PEDA at Central Kalimantan Provincial Level is a center of agricultural agribusiness areas that supply the needs of food and horticultural commodities in the city of Sampit and surrounding areas.
Rice harvested area in Mentawa Baru Ketapang District for the planting season from October 2019 to March 2020 reaches 570 hectares. The most distribution of harvest is in two rice central villages, namely Bapeang and Telaga Baru. Realization of the harvest from January to April 2020 reached 300 hectares. Lowland rice based on self-help tiles reaches 5.8 tons / ha harvested unhusked rice (GKP), while upland rice reaches 2.6 tons / ha GKP. The types of crop varieties are quite diverse, from Inpari 42, Situ Bagendit, Batang Gadis, Hybrids, and local varieties of Siam Siam,” reported the Head of Pelangsian BPP, Supadi, to the Head of Agriculture Office of East Kotawaringin, I Made Dikantara, during the rice harvesting activity in Hamparan Farmers Group, Bapeang Village, Sunday (4/26/2020).
