Control of Covid-19 in 2021 is Prioritized on Vaccines for People
PALANGKA RAYA – BUREAU OF ADMINISTRATION LEADERSHIP. Control of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 will prioritize the provision and administration of vaccines to all Indonesian people. “The government continues to follow the development of vaccinations that have been carried out by several countries in the world, such as Britain, the United States, and Canada which have carried out vaccinations in 2020,” said the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Team of Central Kalimantan as stated by the spokesman Prof. Wiku Adisasmito on today’s release, Saturday (2/1/2021).
The Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated that there would be 2 lines of cooperation in the procurement of Covid-19 vaccine candidates, namely the bilateral or multilateral cooperation and the development of our own vaccine – Merah Putih (Indonesia made). Merah Putih is the result of collaboration between universities and research institutions in Indonesia. In the first quarter of 2021, Merah Putih will be submitted by PT Bio Farma for clinical and preclinical trials before obtaining a distribution permit.
Meanwhile, in the bilateral cooperation scheme, there is the Sinovac vaccine; cooperation with China and the Novavax and Prfizer vaccines; cooperation with the United States. In addition, there is also Astra Zeneca vaccine in this collaboration scheme. There is also Covax or Gavi vaccine as for the multilateral cooperation scheme coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The number of vaccine candidates that have been determined by the government aims to ensure adequate domestic vaccine needs, so as to create community immunity. Vaccination itself will be given in stages. In the first quarter of 2021, it will be given to health workers, public officials, and the elderly. Furthermore, another vaccination will be given in the second quarter of this year (around April 2021) to March 2022 to communities and vulnerable populations as well as other communities by considering the transmission cluster.
Regarding various information on social media about the falsified results of Covid-19 rapid test and indications of buying and selling transactions, the Covid-19 Task Force Team of Central Kalimantan emphasized that this could lead to criminal sanctions. “From the criminal law’s point of view, the act of providing fake doctor’s certificate can be punished. Sanctions are regulated in Criminal Code (KUHP) article 267 paragraph 1 and article 268 paragraph 1 and 2, with the imprisonment for 4 years,” explained the Task Force Team in its release today.
People are asked to avoid carrying out these fraudulent practices and immediately report to the authorities if they know such practices because they will cause more Covid-19 transmission in community. “So don’t play a trick on it,” said the Covid-19 Task Force Team of Central Kalimantan.
