Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran Releases Distribution of Social Assistance for Flood Affected Communities
PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Central Kalimantan Governor H. Sugianto Sabran released the distribution of social assistance for flood affected communities at the Fire and Disaster Management Agency of Central Kalimantan Province (BPBPK), Palangka Raya on Monday (6/9/2021).
According to the data from the Fire and Disaster Management Agency of Central Kalimantan Province, floods occurred in a number of regencies/city. High rainfall intensity resulted in 11 regencies/city being flooded. Floods submerged houses and road infrastructure, so people were forced to flee to the safer places. The Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan continues to strive for handling the impact of flood disaster in the flood-affected regencies/city.
During his direction, Governor Sugianto Sabran asked the Acting Head of Fire and Disaster Management Agency of Central Kalimantan Province to make an inventory of flood-affected areas.
“Today, we are distributing the aid to our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the flood, namely there were 11 regencies/city, 49 districts, and 250 villages/subdistricts. I have ordered to identify immediately the affected areas,” said Governor Sugianto Sabran.
On that occasion, Governor Sugianto Sabran also asked the Acting Head of Fire and Disaster Management Agency of Central Kalimantan Province Erlin Hardi to coordinate and prepare strategic steps with the Heads of Fire and Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in regency/municipality level in dealing with flood disaster.
“I ask the Head of BPBPK of Central Kalimantan Erlin to coordinate with BPBDs at Regency/Municipality level to prepare strategic steps,” explained Governor when delivering his direction.
Furthermore, Governor said that the initial distribution of social assistance was distributed to East Kotawaringin Regency in the form of basic needs.
“Today, we will release the aid to East Kotawaringin Regency such as rice and other basic needs including ones for pregnant women and snacks for children,” said Governor Sugianto Sabran.
In his report, the Acting Head of Fire and Disaster Management Agency of Central Kalimantan Province Erlin Hardi, reported that this assistance was the initial stage of social assistance to be distributed.
“On this occasion, 3,000 aid packages will be distributed to flood-affected communities in East Kotawaringin Regency. This assistance is an early stage and it will be continued to other regencies which will be adapted to their needs and conditions,” said Erlin Hardi.
Also being present to accompany the Governor were Vice Governor Edy Pratowo, Acting Head of Fire and Disaster Management Agency of Central Kalimantan Erlin Hardi, as well as other relevant Regional Apparatus Heads. (rik/bow/translated by feb)
