Facing Threat of Omicron, Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force Held Meeting
PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin, represented by Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development Leonard S. Ampung, chaired the Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force meeting at Eka Hapakat Hall, Governor’s Office, Thursday (1/13/2022).
The meeting was held to prepare strategic steps and policies for Central Kalimantan Provincial Government in efforts to prevent and control the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 as a follow-up to the issuance of Presidential Decree Number 24 of 2021 on Determination of Factual Status of Covid-19 in Indonesia which stated that the pandemic had not yet ended.
Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin as the Daily Chair of the Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force, in a direction delivered by the Assistant for Economics and Development Leonard S. Ampung, said that the development situation of the Omicron virus must be handled appropriately to anticipate the possibility of spreading to Central Kalimantan region.
“It is our duty and responsibility to support the Governor as the Chair of the Task Force in carrying out the task of dealing with Covid-19 in Central Kalimantan, especially facing the threat of the Omicron,” said Acting Provincial Secretary.
For that reason, the Acting Provincial Secretary asked all heads of provincial government institutions and members of the Covid-19 Task Force to really synergize and formulate appropriate steps to prevent the Omicron variant and then stabilize it with the Indonesian National Armed Forces/ Indonesian Police so that the implementation is more effective in the field.
Understanding the status of the Covid-19 case in Central Kalimantan which is currently still under control, Acting Provincial Secretary expected this condition to be maintained. “Steps in 2021 in dealing with the second wave of the spread of Covid-19 must be further strengthened, the good ones are maintained and the bad ones continue to be improved,” he said. The Acting Provincial Secretary hopes that all relevant parties will play active roles in finalizing the strategy to deal with the Omicron variant.
Also present at the meeting were the Expert Staff of the Governor for Government, Legal and Politics Herson B. Aden, Head of Central Kalimantan Provincial Fire and Disaster Management Agency (BPBPK) Falery Tuwan, Head of Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office Suyuti Syamsul, Director of RSUD Doris Sylvanus Yayu Indriaty, Inspector of Central Kalimantan Province Saring, Epidemiologist of Central Kalimantan Rini Fortina, and other related agencies.
