Central Kalimantan Governor Expressed Appreciation to Financial Services Sector for Organizing Booster Vaccination
PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin, representing the Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran, officially opened Mass Booster Vaccination activity held by the Financial Services Sector in Palangka Raya which took place in Palampang Tarung Hall, Palangka Raya Municipality Government Office, Jalan Tjilik Riwut Km 5.5 Palangka Raya, Saturday (12/2/2022).
This mass vaccination activity was held in order to encourage the acceleration of Covid-19 vaccination and to achieve herd immunity in Central Kalimantan Province. The activity was initiated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of Central Kalimantan, Representative Office of Bank Indonesia in Central Kalimantan Province, Central Kalimantan Financial Services Industry Communication Forum (FKIJK), and Central Kalimantan Regional Banking Consultative Body (BMPD), in collaboration with Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office and Palangka Raya Health Office. The activity targeted 750 participants from employees and families of OJK, Bank Indonesia, FKIJK, and BMPD in the area of Palangka Raya.
In the speech read by Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin, Central Kalimantan Governor expressed his gratitude and highest appreciation to all parties who have prepared and organized this vaccination activity well.
On this occasion, through the Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin, Governor revealed that data reported by the covid19.go.id website showed that nationally there were 4,301,193 confirmed cases of Covid-19, while there were 45,681 cases for Central Kalimantan Province.
“Understanding the increase in the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19, sure we all have to be more careful and aware with the new variant of the Covid-19, namely the Omicron variant,” the Governor appealed.
To achieve herd immunity, vaccination is targeted to reach 70% or 181.5 million Indonesians, with a target of 1 million per day and will gradually be increased to 2 million per day. According to the Governor, the vaccination program in the regions must be in line with the national vaccination program to achieve this target. The governor also emphasized that the vaccine used complies with safety standards and has passed rigorous clinical trials, so that the product is guaranteed to be safe and effective.
Governor hopes that this kind of cooperation will sustain, be improved and developed especially in the area of Palangka Raya and also in the areas where vaccination coverage is still low.
Meanwhile, in the interview session, Acting Provincial Secretary also expressed his appreciation for the implementation of booster vaccination activity today.
“The booster vaccination carried out by OJK in cooperation with banking industry in Central Kalimantan is well conducted. Of course, the Regional Government welcomes this activity because public health is the main priority,” said Acting Provincial Secretary.
Acting Provincial Secretary added that the impact of this activity was very broad. “In addition to maintaining herd immunity from the community, we have seen economic movement from the community. So far, it’s not low but less passionate. Of course, this has an impact on the economy in Central Kalimantan even though it is small in scale,” he added while hoping that this activity could become a role model that provides benefits and becomes an example for companies or business sectors in Central Kalimantan to provide CSR in the form of activities like this.
Previously, Head of Representative Office of Bank Indonesia in Central Kalimantan Province, Yura Adalin Djalins, said that his party strongly supports the Covid-19 vaccination program launched by the government.
“Bank Indonesia is very supportive towards government program which is the program for booster vaccine because it is a game changer for economic recovery. If Covid is out of controlled, we are worried that the economic recovery will not take place quickly,” explained Yura.
Furthermore, the Head of Representative Office of OJK for Central Kalimantan Province, Otto Fitriandy, on this occasion reminded the instructions of Indonesian President Joko Widodo to take extraordinary ways to deal with Covid-19.
“Well, this is what we are doing, I consider the implementation of extraordinary way that we do is through joint synergy among OJK, Bank Indonesia, BMPD, FKIJK, Regional Government, Police, and Armed Forces to jointly stop the transmission of Covid-19 in Indonesia particularly in Central Kalimantan Province,” he said.
