PALANGKA RAYA- EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Assistant for Government and Public Welfare Katma F. Dirun opened the Regional Coordination Meeting for Family Development, Population and Family Planning to Reduce Stunting Rate in Central Kalimantan which was held by representative office of BKKBN in Central Kalimantan at Swissbel Danum Hotel, Monday afternoon (25/4/2022).
The stunting reduction acceleration program is one of the priority programs in Central Kalimantan Province which is in line with the Central Kalimantan Governor’s Vision and Mission.
“There must be cross-sectoral coordination and government synergy, starting from the central level to the village level. There is a need for a momentum where all relevant stakeholders sit together to formulate policies as well as strategic interventions,” said Governor in his remarks read by Katma F. Dirun.
Katma conveyed Governor’s appreciation to the representative office of BKKBN in Central Kalimantan for initiating this Coordination Meeting because as the Chair of the Implementing Secretariat of Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) in Central Kalimantan, the representative office of BKKBN in Central Kalimantan has seriously merged the Vision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Vision of the Governor of Central Kalimantan, and the Vision of the BKKBN in a joint movement to accelerate stunting reduction.
Currently, the prevalence of stunting in Central Kalimantan is 27.4%, which is the 14th highest out of 24 provinces in Indonesia. In particular, Central Kalimantan Province was mandated to reduce the prevalence of stunting by 15.38% in 2024 and 14% nationally.
This figure, according to the Acting Head of the Representative Office of BKKBN in Central Kalimantan, Fitrianto Leksono, pointed out that there are many tasks that must be done to achieve the stunting reduction target in Central Kalimantan. “Various strategies need to be prepared, starting from guiding the bride and groom, pregnant women, and after childbirth, as well as the First 1000 Days of Life,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of BKKBN Hasto Wardoyo who was present virtually briefly explained the National Plan for Reducing Indonesia’s Stunting Rate (RAN PASTI), including through cross-sectoral programs, the establishment of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction, and mentoring. “Family development is oriented towards quality families whose main target is young families because young families give birth to future generations,” said Hasto.
This coordination meeting was also attended by a number of regents/deputy regents and all civil apparatuses of the Representative Office of BKKBN in Central Kalimantan including related offices/agencies in Central Kalimantan Province as well as PD-KB at regency/municipality level, professional organizations, partners, and universities.
