Long Duration for Face-to-Face Meetings in Closed Rooms and Short-Range Interactions Increase Risk of Covid-19 Transmission
PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Public Communications Team for Covid-19 Handling Task Force of Central Kalimantan again delivered a Press Release regarding the progress of handling Covid-19 until Monday (05/07/2021) at 15.00 p.m.
In its statement released this time, the Covid-19 Handling Task Force said that the Covid-19 virus was most contagious in such conditions: being in a closed room, attending long duration face-to-face meetings (more than 15 minutes), and interacting at close range. In addition, conditions such as being in a crowd, doing activities that require strong breath (e.g. singing, talking, or laughing), and situations that require us not to wear a mask (such as when eating together).
“Being in just one of these conditions increases the risk of transmission, especially if it is a combination of those conditions above. Therefore, avoid those situations and comply with health protocols when carrying out activities with other people. Remember to always wear a mask, keep your distance, and wash your hands with soap after touching the surface of any item and stay away from crowds,” said the Task Force Team.
Furthermore, the Covid-19 Task Force Team of Central Kalimantan said that every day, the number of positive confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Central Kalimantan is increasing. People at high risk are those who have comorbidities, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, to kidney failure. In addition, people who have low immune systems, elderly people over 60 years, and those who are obese or overweight.
Getting vaccinated, implementing healthy lifestyle habits, and complying with health protocols are very important prevention efforts. The Covid-19 prevention strategy by Covid-19 Handling Task Force of Central Kalimantan for Behavior Change is focused on improving health protocol compliance. Everyone must be willing and able to make changes in 4M compliance behavior, so as to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.
Furthermore, the data of Covid-19 in Central Kalimantan was conveyed today: there were 139 additional Confirmation Cases, namely in Palangka Raya (61 people), Katingan (3 people), West Kotawaringin (36 people), Sukamara (17 people), Pulang Pisau (3 people), Kapuas (18 people), and Murung Raya (1 person), from 26,650 to 26,789 people in total.
There were 116 recovered patients, namely in Palangka Raya (24 people), Katingan (44 people), East Kotawaringin (29 people), West Kotawaringin (5 people), Sukamara (8 people), Pulang Pisau (2 people), Kapuas (1 person), and Gunung Mas (3 people), with total is 23,801 people.
Suspected cases have decreased by 139 people, from 625 to 486 people in total. There are no additional Probable cases, it remains 99 people. There are additional 20 people for patients under Treatment, from 2,242 to 2,262 people in total. There were additional 3 deaths, namely 2 people in Palangka Raya and 1 person in West Kotawaringin, a total of 726 people with a mortality rate (CFR) of 2.7%. (win/translated by feb)
