PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Vice Governor of Central Kalimantan H. Edy Pratowo said that the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) of Central Kalimantan could be a pioneer for student movement to work together to develop Central Kalimantan to be more BERKAH (Dignified, Elegant, Religious, Strong, Trustworthy, and Harmonious).

This was conveyed by the Vice Governor of Central Kalimantan when officially opened the Training for PMII Cadres of Central Kalimantan Province, at BKKBN Hall, Palangka Raya on Friday (11/5/2021).

“PMII, as the front line of student organization in Central Kalimantan in particular, can be the foremost pioneer media providing an example for the student movement in order to participate in developing Central Kalimantan,” he explained.

The training took a theme “Student Movement: Leadership, Creativity, and Cadre Ijtihad, Could Be An Effort to Realize Central Kalimantan to be more BERKAH”.

Vice Governor Edy Pratowo said that student organizations provide leadership education.

“Life in a student organization provides a picture of leadership education for all of us. In my point of view, the character of someone who joins an organization is different with others who don’t,” said Vice Governor.

Furthermore, while delivering his remarks, Vice Governor Edy Pratowo hoped that the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement of Central Kalimantan could provide solutions and synergize with the government, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I hope that in the future PMII of Central Kalimantan will be more involved and responsive towards many problems that happen in society, both from the economic and social perspective, so that students do not only give criticism, but also can provide solutions and together synergize with the government in various matters, especially during the current Covid-19 pandemic,” he explained.

At the end of his speech, the Vice Governor welcomed and supported the programs of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement of Central Kalimantan.

“What becomes the PMII program in the future, we will really support it. Hopefully in the future PMII will be better, more developed and at the forefront,” said Vice Governor.

Also present at the event were the Head of BKKBN of Central Kalimantan Representative Office Muhammad Irzal, Acting Head of the Executive Administration Bureau Indra Wiratama, and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement Abdullah Sukri. (rik/bow/translated by feb)
