TIMPAH, KAPUAS – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Following up on the directions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia and as a form of efforts to accelerate the Covid-19 vaccination, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government through the Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, held vaccinations for students and public in Kapuas Regency, Saturday (19/2/ 2021).

Representing the Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran, the Governor’s Expert Staff for Social Affairs and Human Resources, Suhaemi, opened a vaccination program for students and public at SMAN 1 Timpah, which was located in Timpah Village, Timah District, Kapuas Regency.

In governor’s remarks, the Governor’s Expert Staff for Social Affairs and Human Resources, Suhaemi, explained that the vaccination acceleration activity targeting students and the public was held as part of efforts to suppress the transmission of Covid-19, especially in the midst of a significant increase in the number of confirmed cases at this time.

Being present to accompany the Governor’s Expert Staff for Social Affairs and Human Resources Suhaemi were the Governor’s Expert Staff for Government, Law, and Politics Herson B. Aden, Assistant for Government and Welfare Katma F. Dirun, Head of Disaster dan Fire Management Office Falery Tuwan, Acting Head of the Village and Community Empowerment Service Aryawan, Acting Head of the Education Office Ahmad Syaifudi and Acting Head of the Communications and Information Technology Office, Agus Siswadi.

Arriving at the vaccination site, the Governor’s Expert Staff for Social Affairs and Human Resources, Suhaemi, was greeted by the Regional Secretary of Kapuas Regency, Septedy and the Head of Timpah District, Yunda Neviatrie.

The Head of Timpah District, Yunda Neviatrie expressed her hope that implementation of this vaccination activity will strengthen the health of communities in Timpah so that they will be able to carry out their activities normally, especially since Timpah was traversed by a road so that people from outside the area frequently went in and out of this area. However, Yunda was grateful that the number of confirmed cases in her area was very low, even there were no new cases recorded.

It was a result of the public’s compliance with health protocols, either in places of worship or during religious celebrations.

Yunda said that students and residents from 9 villages in Timpah district were enthusiastic to participate in today’s activity.

On the same occasion, Acting Division Head of Disease Control and Prevention of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, Sofia Wirda, explained that the vaccination in Timpah was targeting 300 doses of vaccine for students or children aged 6-11 years, students or children aged 12-17 years, and the public aged 18 years and over.

In addition to providing prizes in the form of 3 bicycles from the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government and 1 bicycle from the Kapuas Regency Government, this activity also provided door prizes in the form of cash for vaccination participants who could answer questions. After receiving vaccination, the participants also received basic food packages such as rice and cooking oil as well as school bags.

Meanwhile, apart from SMAN 1 Timpah, vaccinations for students and public in Kapuas Regency were also held at SMAN 1 Kapuas Tengah, which was located in Pujon Village, Kapuas Tengah District, Kapuas Regency.

The vaccination activity at SMAN 1 Kapuas Tengah was opened by the Governor’s Expert Staff for Government, Law, and Politics Herson B. Aden who represented the Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran. Being present at the activity were Assistant for Government and Welfare Katma F. Dirun, Head of the Disaster and Fire Management Office Falery Tuwan, and Acting Head of the Education Office Ahmad Syaifudi.

Principal of SMAN 1 Kapuas Tengah, Doys Mihing, revealed that vaccination dose 1 and dose 2 in Kapuas Tengah district had almost reached 100%, so most of those who took vaccinations today were receiving a follow-up or booster dose of vaccination. Doys also hoped that this activity can provide benefits for all of the community.

There had been rumors in Pujon area that vaccines injection was dangerous. However, according to Doys, highly appreciation was delivered for the collaboration of all elements, including the local health centers, these rumors now can be dismissed and the public’s enthusiasm in this vaccination activity was high.

“Student report card will not be given to students and parents who are not vaccinated and in my poin of view this is also an effort to attract parents and children to succeed this vaccine program,” said Doys. (ran/transl.feb)
