SELAT, KAPUAS – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin, accompanied by the Head of Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office Suyuti Syamsul and Acting Head of the Disaster Management and Fire Department (BPBPK) Erlin Hardi, made a working visit to monitor the implementation of Covid-19 vaccination at Basarang Health Center and Selat Health Center, Kapuas Regency, Saturday (05/06/2021).

Departing from Palangka Raya on Saturday (05/06/2021) morning, when the group arrived at Basarang Health Center, they were greeted by the Regent of Kapuas Ben Brahim S. Bahat and his staff. In that place, Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin directly saw the vaccination process. After visiting Basarang Health Center, the group headed to Selat Health Center to monitor the same thing.

“So, with the governor’s permission, we are asked to monitor vaccination activities in every regency/municipality because we see that it is a tough task for all of us to monitor and follow up on orders from the leadership, so we hope that every day the activities for reporting can increase,” said Nuryakin during the visit.

According to the Head of Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, Suyuti Syamsul, who also accompanied the Acting Provincial Secretary, the current vaccination achievement in Central Kalimantan for health workers has reached 106%, for public servants it is close to 60%, and the elderly is still at 14%.

In his remarks delivered at the Office of Kapuas Regent after the visit, Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin said, “The provincial government appreciates what the Kapuas Regency Government has done, which we visited earlier, both at Basarang Health Center and Selat Health Center, and the community is enthusiastic. So, what we see in Kapuas Regency is very good. What we are afraid of is that there are many officers but few who are vaccinated. We salute the Kapuas Regency Government, the officers are all enthusiastic.”

Furthermore, Acting Provincial Secretary briefly explained the progress report of Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office that the vaccination target for health workers had reached 106%. Education personnel are targeted because this is related to the teaching and learning process which has started to open in July. “So, on behalf of the Provincial Government, we thank the Regent, Chief of Police, Head of the Health Office, Social Office, and other ranks who have synergized with each other,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Kapuas Regent Ben Brahim S. Bahat expressed his appreciation for the presence of the group. “On behalf of the people of Kapuas Regency, I would like to welcome Acting Provincial Secretary and his entourage who are willing to come today,” he said.

The regent reported that daily vaccinations were also carried out in all districts and at the Health Centers. “We hope that this vaccination activity can be realized quickly. If there is a shortage of vaccines later, we ask the Head of Health Office because in communication with the Governor, he said that if there is a shortage of vaccines, they immediately notify us so that the provincial government will send them. This is an extraordinary support from Provincial Government for handling Covid-19, “ said the Regent.

The Regent Ben Brahim said that for Kapuas Regency, the number of Covid-19 sufferers had fallen far. “Well, indeed, not all of these 17 districts have been affected by Covid-19, there are still many in the green zone, especially the districts above, including those in sea areas,” explained the Regent.

Facing the challenge of getting the elderly to get vaccinated, the Regent shared a strategy, “So, in Kapuas, it’s good, yes, for the elderly. The strategy is to assign Heads of District, or the entire Village Heads to be responsible for bringing the elderly to the vaccine site. Well, this is what we are doing today in Basarang or everywhere, all Health Centers, throughout Kapuas Regency. So, that’s the system. So, assisted by the Village Heads,” he explained.

This has resulted in a good performance of the Village Heads, one of which is shown by how many percent of the residents have been vaccinated, including the elderly. “Well, then for the people themselves, if they don’t want to be vaccinated, they will be considered in providing Direct Cash Assistance, PKH, and other assistance, including traveling, they will ask for an antigen swab / RT-PCR result, all this assistance will not be given later, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 14 of 2021,” he said.

Responding to the monitoring of vaccination at two Health Centers, the Regent said everything was going well. “I thank all medical personnel, doctors, and everyone involved,” said the Regent while inviting all relevant parties to provide understanding to the community to be vaccinated.
