Bundaran Besar Palangka Raya Hosted Huma Betang Night 2025, Featuring the Launch of “Car Free Night”

Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran officially launched Car Free Night at the Huma Betang Night 2025 event at Bundaran Besar Palangka Raya on Saturday (14/6/2025) evening.
PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government launched “Car Free Night” program featured in Huma Betang Night 2025 on Saturday (14/6/2025) at Bundaran Besar Palangka Raya, a new initiative aimed at fostering a safe, vibrant public space to celebrate the local cultural heritage.

The Acting Secretary of Central Kalimantan stated in his speech that the event, held weekly on Saturday nights, is designed as a cultural spectacle. It will feature performances by local artists to promote the conservation and development of Dayak cultural heritage, incorporating with Unitary State of The Republic of Indonesia framework.
In his opening speech Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran expressed his commitment to the well-being of all Central Kalimantan residents. He asserted that Huma Betang Night is not merely entertainment, but rather a means of preserving the rich cultural identity of Dayak people.

Held weekly on Saturday nights, “Car Free Night” lets residents enjoy a pollution-free stroll around Bundaran Besar Palangka Raya. The event also aims to boost social, economic, and cultural activities in the area. “Let us work together to build a dignified, advanced, and prosperous Central Kalimantan for Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
The event coincided with a visit by Turkish Parliament Senator Mr. Av. Serkan Bayram and Turkish business delegations. After dining with the governor at Isen Mulang Palace, they attended the opening ceremony of the Huma Betang Night. Their presence highlighted the warm international ties fostered by Central Kalimantan’s provincial government.
The Governor, accompanied by The Vice Governor, Turkish Senator Av. Serkan Bayram, and the delegation, struck the gong to symbolically inaugurate “Car Free Night”. The event continued with Dayak cultural performances: the Giring-Giring dance by Darung Tingang Art and Culture Center, the Dadas Bawon dance by Palangka Raya artists, and a fashion show organized by Central Kalimantan Dekranasda (The National Regional Craft Council).
A live performance by Tri Suaka and Nabila Maharani marked the climax of Huma Betang Night, captivating thousands gathered at Bundaran Besar. Officials hope the event’s launch will inspire Central Kalimantan residents to create inclusive spaces for recreation, culture, and community bonding.
