Central Kalimantan Government Held Performance Assessment on Stunting in Regencies/Municipality

PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Assistant for Economy and Development Administration Nurul Edy, representing Provincial Secretary of Central Kalimantan, attended and opened the Performance Assessment in Regency/Municipality on the Implementation of 8 Actions Convergence of Stunting Reduction in 2021, Thursday (03/06/2021), located in the Bappedalitbang Hall, Central Kalimantan Province.

The Provincial Secretary of Central Kalimantan in his remarks read by the Assistant for Economy and Development Administration Nurul Edy explained that the Stunting Prevalence level of Central Kalimantan Province is still among the 10 highest in Indonesia and based on the 2018 Basic Health Research data, the Stunting Prevalence in Regencies/Municipality in Central Kalimantan Province is above of national average.

“Based on the results of 2018 Basic Health Research, the highest Stunting Prevalence was found in East Kotawaringin Regency (48.84%) and the lowest one was in Seruyan Regency (21.84%). Meanwhile, from the results of the 2019 Indonesian Toddler Nutritional Status Study (SSGBI), it was found that the highest stunting prevalence was in Kapuas Regency (42.37%) and the lowest one was in Murung Raya Regency (17.45%),” he explained.

Furthermore, it was conveyed, as an effort to foster and supervise the performance of regencies/municipality in increasing the integration of nutritional interventions in the context of reducing stunting which is one of the national priorities, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government carried out a Performance Assessment of 5 regencies/municipality with stunting locus in Central Kalimantan Province.

In 2021, the Ministry of Health will set 9 regencies/municipality in Central Kalimantan Province as priority loci for 2021, namely Palangka Raya City, Pulang Pisau Regency, West Kotawaringin Regency, Seruyan Regency, Sukamara Regency, Katingan Regency, Pulang Pisau Regency, Murung Raya Regency, and North Barito Regency, so it is hoped that the new locus Regencies/Municipality must prioritize programs and budgets for reducing stunting.

“This annual Performance Assessment is expected to be an arena for learning and competitiveness that can motivate Regency/Municipality Governments to improve their performance in handling stunting. The Performance Assessment of the Implementation of 8 Convergence Actions for Reducing Stunting in 2021 is a process of assessing the progress of regency/municipality performance at loci in making efforts to improve the convergence of specific nutrition interventions and sensitive nutrition. This improvement is carried out through 8 convergence/integration actions in planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs/activities,” said Central Kalimantan Provincial Secretary through the Assistant for Economy and Development Administration.

Furthermore, it was also stated that the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government’s commitment to accelerating stunting reduction with the enactment of regulations related to this matter, including Central Kalimantan Governor Regulation Number 14 of July 2, 2019 on Healthy Community Movement through the 2019 Ela Hindai Stunting Action, Decree Governor of Central Kalimantan Number 188.44/73/2019 of 6, 2019 on the Implementation Team for the Action Program of  Prevention Acceleration of Stunting in Central Kalimantan Province, and Central Kalimantan Governor Regulation Number. 7 of March 19, 2020 on Guidelines for the Implementation of Healthy Community Movement.

“Through the regulation, it is requested that the Regency/Municipality government commit to stunting reduction as mandated by the Governor’s Regulation by strengthening the involvement of all parties according to their respective roles, including Village Apparatus, District Police, Babinsa, Integrated Service Post (Posyandu), Family’s Welfare Empowerment at Village level, Village Community, and the Human Development Cadre (KPM),” concluded Central Kalimantan Provincial Secretary.
