SURABAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. The Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan handed over assistance to residents affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru. The assistance worth Rp. 7.5 billion was symbolically handed over by the Deputy Governor of Central Kalimantan Edy Pratowo to the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa at Grahadi State Building, Jalan Governor Suryo Surabaya, East Java, Friday (10/12/2021).

Then on the same day, the Governor of East Java handed over the assistance to the Regent of Lumajang Thoriqul Haq who on this occasion was also present in person at Grahadi State Building.

Reading the remarks of the Governor of Central Kalimantan Sugianto Sabran, the Deputy Governor Edy Pratowo expressed deep concern for the residents of East Java, especially residents affected by the Mount Semeru eruption in 2021, which is said to be more than those affected by eruption in 2020.

“On behalf of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government and all the people of Central Kalimantan, I express my deepest condolences for the victims who died due to the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency, East Java Province. Hopefully the worship of all victims will be accepted by Allah SWT, God Almighty, as well as all the families will be given the strength and sincerity,” written the Governor as conveyed by Deputy Governor Edy Pratowo.

The assistance from the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government is expected to ease the burden on the affected residents and accelerate the post-disaster recovery. “It is our hope that this assistance can strengthen the brotherhood and friendship that has been established, with the hope of making this nation more advanced which is able to strengthen the unity and integrity of Indonesia as a large and diverse country,” added the Governor.

In his remarks read by the Deputy Governor Edy Pratowo, the Governor did not forget to also thank the humanitarian volunteers who have worked together to help the victims with all their hearts and thoughts. “Hopefully the kindness of all of you will become the value of worship. Let’s collaborate together to help our brothers and sisters affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru,” written Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran.

Meanwhile, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa expressed her appreciation for the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government’s concern for residents affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru. “Our warmest greetings, the Government and the people of East Java, especially the residents of Lumajang Regency, for the concern and solidarity of our brothers and sisters in Central Kalimantan Province. This assistance has enormous benefits in handling the impact of the eruption,” said Governor Khofifah.

The East Java governor explained that data collection on affected clusters and infrastructure was still being carried out, such as education, health and bridge infrastructure, where the Gladak Perak Bridge, which connects Lumajang and Malang, was informed cut off due to the Semeru hot cloud.

Governor Khofifah also emphasized that the Government is present and working hard to provide peace to the community. This hard work, she said, received extraordinary support from various regions, including the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government.
