PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Public Communication Team of Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force asked the public not to rely solely on one health intervention in dealing with Covid-19 pandemic. “Like only relying on vaccines to prevent and fight against Covid-19 virus. Complying strict health protocols is an effort to complement health intervention, “explained by the release of Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force, Friday (5/2/2021).

Spokesperson for Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, stated that various interventions for handling Covid-19 are like gaps in the layers of cheese that cover one another and cannot be penetrated from the outside. “The cheese layers are increasingly significant in preventing infection if it’s done together,” he said.

Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force Team confirmed that vaccination would not be successful if it is not balanced with the implementation of health protocols. Therefore, until herd immunity is achieved, the most effective prevention is the compliance with health protocols by all individuals. “Efforts to educate and communicate to the public must also be balanced between vaccinations and health protocols,” added the Task Force.

It is further emphasized that these efforts must be supported by qualified health services, so there will be fewer patients and an increase of the recovery rate. “And, this will be perfect if vaccination is carried out to reduce susceptibility to infection, development of disease symptom severity, and chance of transmission to others,” the Covid-19 Task Force warned.

In today’s release, the data on Covid-19 which has been compiled by the accumulated up to 3:00 p.m. is presented again, as follows: 13 regencies and 1 municipality have been affected. In the Confirmation case, 80 people increased, namely in Palangka Raya (30 people), East Kotawaringin (18 people), West Kotawaringin (7 people), Lamandau (17 people), Kapuas (2 persons), South Barito (1 person), and East Barito (5 people), so it was previously 12203 people and now increase to 12283 people.

For the number of recovered patients, there is also an increase, as many as 94 people, in Palangka Raya (36 people), East Kotawaringin (4 people), West Kotawaringin (9 people), Lamandau (5 people), Sukamara (1 person), Seruyan (8 people), Pulang Pisau (4 people), Kapuas (22 people), South Barito (2 persons), and East Barito (3 people), from previously 10505 people increase to 10,599 people.

The number of suspected cases decreased by 29 people, from previously 239 people to 210 people. Probable case has no addition, so it stays the same; 63 people. Under treatment patients decreased by 17 people, from previously 1375 people to 1358 people. As for the case of death; 3 people died, namely in East Kotawaringin (1 person) and Kapuas (2 persons), from previously 323 people to 326 people. The Case Fatality Rate (CFR) was 2.7%.

He also conveyed that the number of people who were examined for swabs or suspects increases by 200 people, from previously 39747 people to 39947 people. The number of specimens also increases by 339 people, from previously 99649 specimens to 99988 specimens. (ran/translated by feb)
