Decision of The Council of Indonesian Ulama (MUI): Covid-19 Vaccination and Swab Tests Do Not Cancel Fast

PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. The Public Communications Team of the Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force referred to the Central Covid-19 Task Force, stating that in 2021, the Council of Indonesian Ulama (MUI) will issue a decision related to Covid-19 vaccination and swab tests during fast as a worship. “Both of them do not cancel fast,” explained the Task Force Team in a press release Friday (1/4/2022).

Decision Number 13 of 2021 stated that the Covid-19 vaccination by intramuscular injection (injection into the muscle) does not invalidate the fast, as well as the swab test as stated in Decision Number 23 of 2021. “MUI urges Muslims to observe Ramadan fast month by fulfilling religious principles, as well as supporting and participating in the Covid-19 vaccination program,” added the Task Force Team in today’s release.

The Task Force team also appealed to the public to maintain discipline in health protocols by wearing masks, avoiding crowds, washing hands with soap, and completing vaccination doses immediately. In addition, the public is advised to carry out 3T (Testing, Tracing, and Treatment) so that the pandemic will end soon.

Furthermore, the Task Force Team conveyed the development of the Central Kalimantan Covid-19 data collected today until 3.00 p.m.: the confirmation cases increased by 41 people, namely in Palangka Raya (10 people), Katingan (2 people), West Kotawaringin (1 person), Seruyan (3 people), Kapuas (1 person), Gunung Mas (3 people), South Barito (3 people), East Barito (17 people), and North Barito (1 person), so from 56578 people increased to 56619 people.

There were 121 people recovered, namely in Palangka Raya (70 people), Katingan (12 people), East Kotawaringin (4 people), West Kotawaringin (1 person), Lamandau (2 people), Pulang Pisau (3 people), Kapuas (1 person), Gunung Mas (3 people), East Barito (21 people), and North Barito (4 people), so from 54311 people increased to 54432 people.

There was a decrease of 81 people under treatment, so from 602 people to 521 people. And, there was an additional 1 person for the death case, namely in Seruyan, so from 1665 people to 1666 people, with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 2.9%.

Regarding Bed Occupancy in Hospitals or Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR), Intensive Bed decreased in Bed Occupancy (2.44%), so that from 24.39% to 21.95%, where there were no regencies/municipality with BOR above 50%. Meanwhile, Isolated Bed decreased in Bed Occupancy (1.92%), so that from 9.06% to 7.14%, in which there were 2 Regencies/Municipality with BOR above 50%, namely Gunung Mas Regency and Murung Raya Regency.

Meanwhile, regarding the achievement of the vaccination target of 2,036,104, the realization of Dose I Vaccination for Central Kalimantan Province has reached 97.06%. All regencies/municipality in Central Kalimantan have achieved more than 70% of Dose I Vaccination. (ran/transl.feb)
