PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran chaired 2021 Evaluation Meeting on Food Estate and Preparation Meeting for 2022 at Jayang Tingang Hall, Second Floor, Governor’s Office, Wednesday (5/1/2022) afternoon.

This evaluation meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Edy Pratowo, the representative of Regional Military Command of 102/Panju Panjung, Acting Provincial Secretary Nuryakin, Assistant for Economics and Development Leonard S. Ampung, as well as a number of Heads of Central Representative Agencies and Heads of related Provincial Government Institutions.

Governor Sugianto Sabran said that this evaluation meeting was held to find out the progress of the Central Kalimantan food estate development activities which had begun in 2020. “To what extent it has been running, which is 30,000 hectares (ha) from 2020 to 2021,” said the Governor.

In addition, this meeting also discussed plans for activities in 2022, including the plans to answer strategic issues that still overshadow the implementation of food estate development activities in Land of Tambun Bungai.

Meanwhile, there are a number of strategic issues that still need attention and handling, including the improvement of irrigation infrastructure which is not yet optimal, conditions of climate phenomena that are quite extreme, as well as obstacles in implementing land management and planting in the field such as the water level that exceeds the standard in planting rice varieties.

In addition, other strategic issues are the number of rice plants that fail before harvest due to weather, limited human resources or farmers, as well as the road access problems that still need to be improved.

Based on data compiled from the Agriculture Office of Kapuas Regency and Pulang Pisau Regency, the target for land intensification in Central Kalimantan for 2020 Fiscal Year  is 30,000 ha, with 20,000 ha in Kapuas and 10,000 ha in Pulang Pisau.

Then, for the 2020 FY planting area which was 29,436 ha (in Central Kalimantan): 19,436 ha (in Kapuas), and 10,000 ha (in Pulang Pisau). Harvested area was 29,332 ha (in Central Kalimantan): 19,332 ha (in Kapuas), and 10,000 ha (in Pulang Pisau). Production before the food estate was 58,225.27 tons (in Kapuas) and 37,910 tons (in Pulang Pisau), while production after the food estate was 72,408.94 tons (in Kapuas) and 42,203 tons (in Pulang Pisau).

Productivity before food estate was 3.18 tons/ha (in Kapuas) and 3.79 tons/ha (in Pulang Pisau), while productivity after food estate was 3.75 tons/ha (in Kapuas) and 4.22 tons/ha (in Pulang Pisau). Meanwhile, the index of planting before food estate was 100 for Kapuas and 200 for Pulang Pisau, while the index for planting after food estate was 137.64 for Kapuas and 200 for Pulang Pisau.

In today’s evaluation meeting, the target for land intensification in Central Kalimantan for the 2021 Fiscal Year was 14,135 ha, with 13,000 ha in Kapuas and 1,135 ha in Pulang Pisau.

Then, for the 2021 FY planting area which was 13,592 ha (in Central Kalimantan): 13,000 ha (in Kapuas), and 592 ha (in Pulang Pisau). Harvested area was 13,519 ha (in Central Kalimantan): 13,000 ha (in Kapuas), and 519 ha (in Pulang Pisau). Production was 45,463.24 tons (in Kapuas) and 2,125.6 tons (in Pulang Pisau). Productivity was 3.5 tons/ha (Kapuas) and 4.1 tons/ha (Pulang Pisau).

Furthermore, the meeting also discussed the land extensification for 2021 FY, where the target in Kapuas was 13,000 ha and Pulang Pisau was 4,000 ha for a total of 17,000 ha. The land with contract status was 12,769.27 ha for Kapuas and 3,874.39 ha for Pulang Pisau, bringing a total of 16,643.66 ha.

Physical realization as of 31 December 2021, namely 12,275.96 ha (96.14%) for Kapuas and 2,532.30 ha (65.36%) for Pulang Pisau, bringing the total to 14,808.26 ha (88.97%). Meanwhile, the realization of tillage as of December 31, 2021, was 1,473.02 ha (11.54%) for Kapuas and 862.9 ha (22.27%) for Pulang Pisau, bringing the total to 2,335.92 ha (14.03%).

For 2022, a SID (Survey Investigation Design) of 7,000 ha of land is ready from the target of 22,000 ha of land that is planned for development in 2022. Therefore, in addition to seeking SID one year before the year for paddy fields, it is also considered necessary for the sustainability of the program, particularly related to sustainability of assistance for agricultural production facilities from relevant Ministries.

Closing the evaluation meeting this time, Governor Sugianto Sabran expressed his gratitude for the attendance and input from all meeting participants. The Governor hopes that the synergy and coordination can always be established to advance the economy of Central Kalimantan and increase innovation and productivity in this province which is rich in natural resources.

“Hopefully it will go well and the results can be on a par with other regions along with the development of agricultural technology,” hoped Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran. (ran/ben/trans.by feb)
