PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. The Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force Team delivered a release on the development of Covid-19 handling in Central Kalimantan at 15.00 p.m., Friday (21/5/2021).

According to the release of Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force, the Central Covid-19 Task Force said that if you learn from previous experience, it is evident that there has been a spike in cases during the four long holiday moments throughout 2020. A spike in cases is also usually followed by a spike in deaths due to Covid-19. The tendency of people to travel every long holiday is the trigger for an increase in cases because it is almost always accompanied by a decrease in adherence to health protocols.

As stated by Dr. Sonny Harry B. Harmadi, Head of Behavior Change Division of Covid-19 Handling Task Force, the increase in travel activities will create a crowd. 3M protocol compliance (wearing masks, keeping your distance, and washing your hands) will also decrease. “This is what triggered the spike in cases. Then when there is a spike in cases, the burden on health services also increases,” he said.

To suppress and avoid the worst conditions, the government has implemented a regulation to eliminate homecoming this year. Transportation conditions during the implementation of the rules for eliminating homecoming are also considered to be very effective.

Prof. Dr. dr. Soedjatmiko SpA (K). Msi., the Professor at FKUI appealed to the public to limit crowds anywhere, both for travelers and those who do not go home. For those who do not go home, they are also advised not to crowd in shopping centers, especially in the tourist attractions or destinations. “Do not let our relatives suffer from Covid-19, have severe symptoms and go to the hospital,” he ordered.

Quoting data from the Covid-19 Task Force, Prof. Soedjatmiko said that of the 6-7 people who gathered, there was 1 person who was positive for Covid-19. “Moreover, in the crowd there is also a high tendency to ignore health protocols, such as wearing a mask incorrectly, or even not wearing a mask at all,” he said.

Likewise for those who have been vaccinated for two complete doses, Prof. Soedjatmiko asked to not crowd. “There is still a 35% chance for people who have been vaccinated to get Covid-19, so there is no guarantee that we are 100% immune from Covid-19,” he said.

The Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force Team said that the number of accumulated data for positive confirmation of Covid-19 in Central Kalimantan increased by 92 people, with a total of cases reaching 21608 people. An additional 92 patients were recovered, with a total of 20007 cases. And, the addition of patients was dead as many as 2 people, so that a total of 576 people.

The following is the development of Covid-19 data that has been accumulated until 3:00 p.m. Regarding the affected zones, as many as 13 regencies and 1 municipality have been affected. In the Confirmation case, there were an additional 92 people, namely in Palangka Raya (24 people), Katingan (7 people), East Kotawaringin (29 people), West Kotawaringin (21 people), Sukamara (1 person), Kapuas (4 people), Gunung Mas (5 people), and Murung Raya (1 person), from 21516 people increased to 21608 people.

There were an additional of 92 people recovered, namely in Palangka Raya (39 people), Katingan (8 people), East Kotawaringin (6 people), West Kotawaringin (22 people), Pulang Pisau (2 people), Gunung Mas (8 people), South Barito (3 people), and Murung Raya (4 people), from 19915 people increased to 20007 people. The number of suspect cases decreased by 11 people, from 347 to 336 people. There is an increase in the Probable case of 1, from 92 people to 93 people.

Under treatment there was a decrease of 2 people, from 1027 people to 1025 people. There were 2 additional cases of death, namely 1 person in Kobar and 1 person in Gunung Mas, from 574 people to 576 people with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 2.7%. There was an additional number of specimens of 520 people, from 142766 specimens to 143286 specimens.

The Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force Team always reminds all Central Kalimantan people to always comply with health protocols to break the chain of Covid-19 spread. “For residents who are not aware of health protocols, remember! 4M is compulsory; wearing a mask, washing hands, maintaining distance and avoiding crowds, as well as doing 3T (Testing, Tracing, and Treatment) so that Covid-19 will soon end in Central Kalimantan and throughout the world,” said the Task Force Team.
