Vaccinations and Health Protocols are Keys in Controlling Covid-19 Pandemic

PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. The Public Communications Team of the Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force delivered a press release regarding the development in handling Covid-19 in Central Kalimantan, Monday (21/2/2022).

The Central Covid-19 Task Force through the Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force Team informed that the Indonesian President Joko Widodo reminded public that the keys in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic, especially the Omicron variant, are vaccinations and health protocols, especially in wearing mask properly.

In addition, the Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force Team delivered the data as of today, Monday (21/2/2022): there were 199 positive confirmed Covid-19 patients in Central Kalimantan, bringing the total to 50894 people. There were 164 patients recovered, bringing the total to 45982 people. There were no cases of death, so the total remained 1598 people died.

Based on the aforementioned data, the confirmation cases increased by 199 people, respectively in Palangka Raya (102 people), Katingan (3 people), East Kotawaringin (13 people), West Kotawaringin (12 people), Lamandau (2 people), Sukamara (1 person), Seruyan (10 people), Pulang Pisau (10 people), Kapuas (25 people), Gunung Mas (7 people), South Barito (8 people), East Barito (2 people), North Barito (3 people), and Murung Raya (1 person), so from 50695 people to 50894 people.

There were 164 people recovered, namely in Palangka Raya (73 people), Katingan (15 people), East Kotawaringin (16 people), West Kotawaringin (3 people), Seruyan (4 people), Pulang Pisau (7 people), Kapuas (21 people), Gunung Mas (7 people), South Barito (11 people), East Barito (4 people), and Murung Raya (3 people), so from 45818 people to 45982 people. There were 35 people under treatment, so from 3279 people to 3314 people. There were no additional cases of death, so there were still 1598 people, with a mortality rate (CFR) of 3.1%.

For Bed Occupancy in Hospitals (BOR), Intensive Beds increased in Bed Occupancy (2.44%), so that from 34.15% to 36.59%; there were 2 regencies dan 1 municipality with BOR above 50% , namely East Kotawaringin Regency, West Kotawaringin Regency, and Palangka Raya Municipality, while Insulation Beds increased in Bed Occupancy (0.45%), so that from 25.86% to 26.31%, in which there were 1 regency and 1 municipality with BOR above 50%, namely South Barito Regency and Palangka Raya Municipality.

For the achievement of the vaccination target of 2,036,104, the realization of Dose I Vaccination for Central Kalimantan Province has reached 91.68%. All regencies/municipality have achieved above 70% of Dose I Vaccination.

Based on Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 11 of 2022 dated February 14, 2022 concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities at Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 and Optimizing the Command Post for Handling Corona Virus Disease 2019 at the Village and Sub-District Level to Control the Transmission of Corona Virus Disease 2019 in the region of Sumatra, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua, for regencies/municipality in Central Kalimantan Province, three criteria are applied, namely Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 (valid until February 28, 2022). The regencies/ municipality with these criteria include: Level 1 consisted of Kotawaringin Barat and Pulang Pisau; Level 2 consisted of South Barito, North Barito, Seruyan, Sukamara, Lamandau, Gunung Mas, Murung Raya, and East Barito; and Level 3 consisted of Kotawaringin Timur, Kapuas, Katingan, and Palangka Raya Municipality.

With the implementation of the restrictions on community activities, the Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force Team always reminds all Central Kalimantan people to continue to comply with health protocols to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission. “For residents who are not aware of the health protocols, remember! 5M is mandatory, such as wearing masks, washing hands with soap or cleansing hands with sanitizer, maintaining distance, reducing mobility, and avoiding crowds. Carry out 3T (Testing, Tracing, and Treatment) and immediately get vaccinated so that more people are protected and Covid-19 will soon pass in Central Kalimantan particularly and all over the world in general,” said the Task Force Team.
