KUTA, BALI – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. The Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran attended the Opening of National Working Meeting of the Association of Indonesian Provincial Governments (APPSI) which was conducted directly by the Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Monday night (9/5/2022). The event was centered at Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Jalan Kartika Plaza, Kuta, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali.

The APPSI National Working Meeting is an annual activity to determine a work program for one year. This activity is a forum that holds the highest authority after the National Conference (Munas) in making decisions and determining the work program of APPSI. The National Working Meeting which will be held on 9-11 May 2022 will be attended by representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Governors throughout Indonesia as members of APPSI, as well as Chairs and Members of the APPSI Expert Council.

In his direction, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said that sustainable development is essentially how to realize the prosperity of the present generation without compromising the needs of future generations.

“The orientation of future development is to encourage economic activities that are effective, environmentally friendly, and involve the participation of all citizens,” explained the Vice President.

The Vice President reminded, in accordance with the spirit of the constitution, Regional Governments are given the authority to carry out the widest possible autonomy to accelerate development and improve public services for the realization of sustainable community welfare and increasing regional competitiveness. Local governments are also expected to be able to take the necessary policies with the aspirations of the people.

Furthermore, the Vice President outlined several things that should be used as guidelines for government ranks and regional development. First, during the current pandemic, programs are asked to focus on strengthening purchasing power and reducing poverty through job creation and economic empowerment. “In this regard, I ask that the use of the Regional Budget is carried out on time,” said the Vice President.

Second, continue to encourage the improvement of the quality of human resources in their respective regions and create an ecosystem that supports improving the quality of human resources through economic institutions that are able to facilitate the abilities and talents of the community, especially the younger generation.

Third, the success of the “Proud of Indonesia Products” national movement to strengthen national economic resilience in the midst of the current global economic challenges.

Fourth, launching a commitment to take sides with MSMEs through the provision of loan interest subsidies, credit restructuring, provision of working capital, and the use of digital technology.

Fifth, realizing quality public services for the realization of public welfare. “For that, I ask all governors to continue with bureaucratic reform and improvement of ASN because around 77% of ASN are in regional agencies, preventing the practice of corruption, collusion, nepotism (KKN) and discrimination in governance, including the practice of buying and selling positions,” hoped the Vice President.

Meanwhile, APPSI Chairman Anies Baswedan in his report expressed his gratitude to the President and Vice President who have been responsive to the aspirations expressed by the Governors through various joint forums.

“We hope that the recommendations that will be produced will be worked on together to make the wheels of government run better,” hoped the Governor of DKI Jakarta.

“The synchronization between the aims/objectives of the regulation with the reality on the ground is also going better so as to encourage progress, provide a sense of justice for all components of society, both at the central government and at the regional governments,” he added.
