PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. The Central Kalimantan COVID-19 Handling Task Force Public Communication Team delivered a press release on the latest development data of COVID-19 case in Central Kalimantan Province on Wednesday (19/5/2021).

In today’s press release, an appeal from the Central COVID-19 Handling Task Force was conveyed to people who are traveling for homecoming this year’s Eid. The homecoming travelers were asked for their awareness to carry out self-quarantine after returning to their domicile of residence.

Spokesperson for the Central COVID-19 Handling Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito emphasized that this self-quarantine needs to be done for 5 x 24 hours or 5 days. This quarantine is important and must be done, so that it can prevent transmission of COVID-19 to the people around you.

In order for the implementation of this self-quarantine to run effectively, the COVID-19 Task Force in the local area is asked to optimize the role of the COVID-19 Command Post in the respective residence. This post is tasked with recording, reporting, and ensuring that all travelers carry out self-quarantine. The closest health facility must also be coordinated, so that if there is a positive case of COVID-19, it can be immediately handled.

Local Governments have a strategic role in controlling cases in their respective regions, given the characteristics of Indonesian people with archipelagic areas and the fourth largest population density in the world. For this reason, an active role from the regions is needed in implementing the policies for handling COVID-19 that have been determined by the Central Government. The success of handling COVID-19 is determined by the COVID-19 Task Force in the regions together with the ranks of the Regional Government.

The community also has an important role to play in supporting the Government’s efforts by complying with established regulations, including implementing control scenarios according to the household zoning in their respective areas. This public compliance will contribute to the effectiveness of handling COVID-19 by the government.
