PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. The Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force Team delivered a press release on the progress of handling the Covid-19 pandemic on Thursday (27/5/2021). The Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force Team said that as the Covid-19 vaccination program was implemented, the government had made careful efforts and continuous supervision to protect the community. Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) is medical event that is suspected to be related to vaccination. Serious AEFIs that are suspected of being linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine have recently been confirmed to be not directly related to the vaccine.

According to the Head of National Commission of Adverse Event Following Immunization (KIPI), the National Commission has collected data. Dr. dr. Hindra Irawan Satari, Sp.A (K)., M.TropPaed., has compared the results of the AstraZeneca vaccine clinical trial, so that currently the National Commission can draw conclusions on the incident. The proportion of AEFIs reported by the Indonesian public regarding AstraZeneca was lower than the data from the clinical trial results for the phase I-III vaccine. Therefore, AstraZeneca is safe to use.

It should be noted by the public that AEFI after being vaccinated by AstraZeneca in the elderly group is lower than in other age groups. If you refer to existing research results, the AstraZeneca vaccine is safer to give to the elderly. Figures in the UK, mortality, seriously ill and hospitalized have fallen.

Immunization expert dr. Jane Soepardi, MPH., Dsc said the AstraZeneca vaccine is the vaccine that is currently the most widely used worldwide. The current global number of cases has begun to decline due to the current global vaccination program. Furthermore, dr. Jane Soepardi, MPH., Dsc reminded the public that we might still be infected with Covid-19 because vaccines do not protect us 100%. “That means we still have to maintain health protocols to protect ourselves and others,” he explained.

The Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Handling Task Force Team conveyed the accumulated amount of data as of today, Thursday (27/5/2021), in which 60 people confirmed positive for Covid-19 in Central Kalimantan, with a total of 22089 cases. Additional 69 patients were recovered, with a total of 20484 cases. And, there are additional 4 patients were dead, bringing the total to 590 people, with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 2.7%.

In this press release, again, the development of Covid-19 data was reiterated in which 13 regencies and 1 municipality had been affected. In the Confirmation case, there were additional 60 people, namely in Palangka Raya (17 people), Katingan (3 people), West Kotawaringin (21 people), Sukamara (2 people), Pulang Pisau (2 people), Gunung Mas (2 people), South Barito (8 people), and Murung Raya (5 people), from 22029 people to 22089 people. There were additional 69 recovered people, namely in Palangka Raya (11 people), Katingan (14 people), West Kotawaringin (32 people), Sukamara (3 people), Pulang Pisau (3 people), South Barito (4 people), and Murung Raya (2 people), from 20415 people to 20484 people. In the case of suspect, there were additional 4 people, from 168 people to 172 people. Probable case has no addition, so it remains 95 people. There was a decrease for under treatment as of 13 people, from 1028 people to 1015 people.

The Central Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force Team reminded all Central Kalimantan people to adhere to health protocols and break the chain of Covid-19 spread. “For residents who are not aware of health protocols, remember! It is mandatory for 4M, wearing a mask, washing hands, maintaining distance, and avoiding crowds so that Covid-19 will soon end in Central Kalimantan and throughout the world,” said the Task Force Team.
