PALANGKA RAYA – EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION BUREAU. Representing the Central Kalimantan Governor, the Governor’s Expert Staff for Economics, Finance, and Development Yuas Elko attended the 2022 Performing Arts event, Tuesday (08/03/2022) night, at Gedung Pertunjukan Terbuka, UPT Taman Budaya of Central Kalimantan, Palangka Raya. Being present at this event were Acting Head of the Tourism and Culture Office of Central Kalimantan Province Adiah Chandra Sari, Head of UPT Taman Budaya Suraji, as well as a number of guests.

In his remarks read by the Governor’s Expert Staff Yuas Elko, the Central Kalimantan Governor said that the Performing Arts has a very strategic role for economic recovery in Central Kalimantan Province during this pandemic, which can encourage the dynamics of art so that it is more meaningful, which in turn is able to increase contributions in regional development of the creative economy, by placing art as one of the main pillars.

“It is our common hope, hopefully this activity will not only be a show, but most importantly it can open a new era of cultural tourism in Central Kalimantan, especially in Palangka Raya,” he said.

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this Performing Arts is streamed virtually via the YouTube channel of UPT Taman Budaya of Central Kalimantan so it can be watched by all Indonesians and other parts of the world,” added the Central Kalimantan Governor.

Furthermore, he conveyed, “As the people of Central Kalimantan, we should be grateful to God Almighty because with our plurality, it makes this area potential of multi-ethnic culture which, if it is packaged properly, it will become an invaluable asset to shape strong community character and can be the main support in developing the regional tourism industry.”

“Therefore, the study, development, and actualization of the arts and culture that we have are effective methods to become filters so that we do not lose our identity. Efforts to improve the quality, innovation, and creation of cultural arts will be the right solution to provide value for cultural development in the future,” he said.

“Hopefully in the future, the Performing Arts alike may become a tourist attraction based on ethnic culture in increasing the flow of tourist visits to our area to support the development of Central Kalimantan,” concluded the Governor through the Governor’s Expert Staff Yuas Elko.
